How it Works

The Summer Camp Street Team is a work exchange program that offers a free ticket to the Summer Camp Music Festival in exchange for promoting Summer Camp leading up to the festival. On this page, you will find all the necessary requirements to earn a ticket.

TO RECEIVE A TICKET, YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING TASKS!

You are expected to promote at concerts of Summer Camp type bands (largely jambands, bluegrass, electronica, nationally touring bands). You are responsible for every major concert in your area, ESPECIALLY UMPHREY’S MCGEE AND MOE.!  You are expected to be promoting at a minimum of two concerts per month. If you reach 12 shows by, say, March or April, and there are big shows coming to your area, you are still expected to promote.

Schedules always change, and we are very flexible. What’s important is COMMUNICATION!

Although some of the shows will be assigned, you are encouraged to promote spontaneously and you will receive credit for your work.

Pass out handbills before and/or after each of these shows with a smile on your face! You are expected to pass out handbills for 45-75 minutes. A good rule of thumb is from when doors open to the show starts.  Depending on the show, it will likely be upwards of 100 handbills minimum for any show, and more often that not, using upwards of 500. Be excited! This is a great opportunity and should be fun!

Most of you are well aware how powerful online promoting is. Everyone is expected to be promoting consistently online. You are expected to promote at least 1-2 times a month up until the festival, but no more than 6 times in one month (avoid spamming!). Facebook is the best and biggest medium for all this, but we welcome any form of online promotion.

Here are some things you can do to earn credit:
1. Facebook status updates – sharing Summer Camp Music Festival’s status, provide links to buying tickets, artist updates, Summer Camp official announcements, “Make a Difference” or “Field Day” posts, etc. If you have a question whether an update will be counted, feel free to e-mail the street team coordinator.

2. Suggest Summer Camp Music Festival’s fan page to your friends (You all should be fans of this already at this point)
3. Invite your friends to the official Summer Camp 2013 Event Page.
4. Promote on message boards of music websites or popular bands. Start and encourage threads about it – We are not looking for press releases. We are looking for general discussion. Ideal posts feature “Who’s going to Summer Camp?”, not “New Artists added to summer Camp”. Some suggestions of message boards include Phantasy Tour, Jambase.com, and The Bort.

HOW TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR YOUR WORK

After any concert you promote at, you are to submit all evidence ASAP! You are expected to promote at a minimum of two shows per month. We want to have you promoting regularly throughout the year, not just right before the festival!
To get credit for promoting a concert, you need to complete the following tasks:
1. SUBMIT INFORMATION For each show you attend, you will submit the information about the show on the Concert Promo page. This is basic information that includes “who/what/what/where” questions.

2. PICTURES – You must have a minimum of THREE pictures for every concert you promoted at:
Picture 1: You must have a picture of the marquee that says either the venue name or the artist. This is essential! If there is no marquee, then take a picture of your ticket, or better yet, the artist at the show.
Picture 2 and 3: Pictures must show concert attendees holding the summer camp flyers.

NOTE: Everyone is responsible for taking these pictures – there will be no excuses such as cameras being stolen or lost, or not being able to afford or get ahold of a camera. Almost everyone has a cell phone, and 99% of all phones nowadays have cameras. We’d prefer good quality pictures, but if a camera phone is the best you can do, that is fine.

To get credit for Online Promotion, you are required to take a screen shot of your promotion on the computer and submit the necessary information into the of the Online Promo page.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ONLINE PROMOTING!
As a member of the Summer Camp Street Team, you are representing the Summer Camp Music Festival. As such, we hope to never see you speak ill about the festival online but, instead, be a cheerleader for the event. While on the street team, you are a member of the Summer Camp team and need to conduct yourself accordingly. Please be mindful of what you say regarding the festival online. While we know everyone may not agree with everything the festival does or every artist we announce, it is your role to support the festival positively.

For every new member of the street team that you refer, you will receive credit for 1 show promotion. The referral will only count if the new member fulfills the free ticket requirements (min 12 shows + Online Promotion).

FEEDBACK AND REWARDS

It is extremely important to have good communication with the coordinator. You will receive a confirmation from the coordinator after every promo submission as well as a progress report showing how much promo you have completed and how much you have left to do.

The featured reward for your work, as always, is a free ticket to the Summer Camp 2013 Festival. However, we are excited to introduce additional rewards for good work this year! There will be opportunities for rewards before the festival as well as at the festival. You can receive these awards with exceptional promotion and regular communication.

Promoting Season Rewards (no points necessary, given upon good work and communication):

2. Summer Camp merchandise
3. Band merchandise

You will receive confirmation of your festival rewards one week before the festival. There will be no hard tickets issued. All tickets will be made available at “will call” at the festival. The tickets are non-transferable and are only eligible for Summer Camp Festival 2013. When flyering at shows, you are not allowed to be selling, advertising, or promoting anything else but Summer Camp. You are expected to conduct yourself in a professional way. The promotional season typically doesn’t require you to put in more than 20 hours total – which is very reasonable for a $200 ticket!

The key to success with the street team is active communication! The more you communicate about your availability, plans, issues, and suggestions, the more we are able to reward you with excellent rewards!
